Welcome Brockport Eagle Service Trips(BEST) to campus! This is a program housed in the Office of Community Development. During academic breaks, students will have the opportunity to engage in community service outside of the Brockport community. During the spring semester, a group of students had the opportunity to travel to Texas and help rebuild homes that are still recovering from Hurricane Harvey. Then over spring break, a group of students went down to Memphis, Tennessee to serve at a local high school and after school program.
We are looking to make another service trip happen during fall break as we travel to Detroit, Michigan. Volunteers will be working with Cass Community Social Services to assist with their initiatives regarding areas of concentrated poverty providing programs for food, health, housing and jobs. On this trip, we will be able to participate in a variety of tasks to support the mission of the organization. Some tasks may include food prep, document destruction, mud mat production, buildings and grounds projects, and activity time with their developmentally disabled clients. This trip will take place during mid semester break, October 11th-15th.
Total trip cost = $190
- Cost includes housing, food, and transportation to and from Detroit
