The students will be helping out on our Back to School Campaign distribution. Every year ESWA volunteers and supporters collect and distribute school supplies for our members' school-aged children. We know that that time of year adds an extra burden to working peoples' budgets. We tackle that burden through the supplies and clothing given out, saving our members hundreds. The 29th is the second day of the sort/distribution so the students will be filling all the backpacks using lists that are made based on age/grade. This is a very hands-on project, and I think it's a lot of fun. The location for the event is 60 Bittner St. Rochester, NY 14604 at Salem United Church of Christ.

Volunteers can anticipate cleaning, painting, weeding, and/or filling a dumpster.

Light Up GO ART! is an artist-focused volunteer project for students who are confident in their creative abilities and interested in contributing meaningful, high-quality work.

Participants will create original ornaments using repurposed lightbulbs, designing pieces that reflect themes connected to GO ART!’s programming and community impact, including cultural celebrations such as Juneteenth, Día de los Muertos, Pride, and winter traditions, as well as broader expressions of identity, storytelling, and the arts.

This is not a casual craft activity. Artists are expected to approach their work with intention, skill, and attention to detail. Each ornament will be part of a curated collection, displayed throughout GO ART!’s space and offered for sale as part of our fundraising efforts.

Proceeds from ornament sales directly support the sustainability of GO ART!, helping to maintain and power the more than 200 lightbulbs that illuminate our historic building and galleries. Through this project, each artist’s work quite literally helps keep the lights on for arts and culture in our community.

Every great performance, exhibit, and community event begins long before the doors open. Join the GO ART! team in preparing one of Western New York's busiest arts centers for thousands of annual visitors. Volunteers will work together to vacuum and shampoo carpets, dust galleries, polish historic features, wipe down furniture, remove cobwebs, clean windows, and refresh public spaces throughout our historic building. Your efforts will help ensure artists, students, families, and community members experience GO ART! at its very best.

No prior experience is necessary. Wear comfortable clothes that can get a little dusty and closed-toe shoes.

We need need flyer-ing help around the South Wedge neighborhood. We'll be hitting the least active/involved streets to get the word out to them about events and opportunities!

Help your librarians fold some zines—8-page mini-magazines made from one sheet of paper. We'll teach you how to fold zines (it's not too hard!), you'll help us fold some of the ~2,000 copies to be handed out to first-year students, and we will have supplies if you'd like to create your own. The zines we'll be folding have information about library resources & services, so you'll head into the academic year with useful library knowledge!

Assist in keeping the Empire State Trail clean and beautiful.  Litter pickup, pollinator garden maintenance, light trail keeping, and positive ambassadorship with those recreating on the trail and in the canal.

Get artsy with us for the afternoon! We need volunteers who will be willing to take some pictures/videos of our buildings and create posts for our social media.

Join the Brockport Lions Club as we do some weeding in the Brockport traffic circle to beautify our area.

Join us as we tidy and beautify the Community Center in the local town of Chili! Students will be grouped off: one will assist with weeding/mulching, one will assist with Library cleaning, and one will paint dugouts at the park onsite.

We will be tending to First Market Farm Community Garden by harvesting, mulching, watering, and weeding.

Help us clean up Brockport's Nativity! Prep and organize materials for upcoming religious education classes, clean the inside of the parish center, possibly weed gardens outside (depending on weather and if there is a need).

The Village of Albion is in need of some TLC. Join us as we paint buildings.

Volunteers will be collecting and sorting donations to benefit our Veterans. Note that this is an on-campus volunteer opportunity.

Join us at Matthew's Closet and help us sort clothing and other donated items, pack up silverware and dishes, and take care of some cleaning and organizing around the shop.

We need a group of strong, go-getter volunteers to help clean and organize our beautiful and historic space. Our Sanctuary, in particular, could use some extra attention, as well as our Sunday School classrooms that could benefit from organizational expertise. Thank you so much for your consideration! 

Every year, SUNY Brockport hosts Camp Abilities Brockport, serving and teaching children with visual impairment through sports and life skills. Every year, we host the camp in the summer for 1 week. After that week, our sheds that hold all the water equipment and tandem bikes become disorganized. We need at least 4 people to help move all the stuff from the two sheds we have, sweep and dust the floors, and then organize everything back in the sheds again. THE LOCATION IS PARKING LOT D ON HOLLEY STREET ACROSS FROM CAMPUS

Rochester Hope invites you to join us for our Festival of Service!

Every Saturday Rochester Hope opens the doors of our food pantry from 9:00a-3:30p, serving nearly 400 families every week. The pantry operates as a small free grocery store, where every person receives a small shopping cart and is paired with a personal shopper. As a volunteer, you can be a personal shopper, help restock shelves, or pull the grocery wagon to the parking lot. 

We also serve a community meal and host a rotation of dozens of community service agencies to table and host clinics, which people can visit as they wait to grocery shop. As a volunteer, you can help serve the meal. Of course, you are also welcome to sit and share the community meal!

Help cleanup around the property, plant flowers, complete miscellaneous outdoor duties.

Join us as we come together to create a brighter, more welcoming space for the young people and families connected to HOPE585. Volunteers will help paint the parking lot wall, beautify outdoor areas, and clean up the property, transforming our campus into a reflection of the hope, belonging, and opportunity we strive to provide every day. Every brushstroke, bag of debris removed, and act of service helps create an environment where youth can feel valued, supported, and inspired. Together, we can turn a few hours of volunteerism into a lasting impact for our community.

We need an assembly line to excavate dirt, move and dump the dirt, and arrange pavers on the edges of our garden.

We have 10 parks in the village, and can always use a little help sprucing up! 

Volunteers will be helping to prepare backpacks for school supply distribution at our Back to School BBQ.

Pick up around school grounds, inside and outside. Assist with the reorganization of our storage closet.

Students will support us in the Gandhi Community Garden. They will support us with watering, weeding, harvesting, cleaning up trash and possibly delivering produce to neighbors through our food share program.

Join us at Monroe Community Hospital (MCH), a county-run long-term care facility for recreation activities and crafts with our residents.  Make someone's day by lending a helping hand, conversating and visiting!

We're excited to host you in the EDEN Gardens! This service project will include a brief orientation to food sovereignty efforts in the Beechwood neighborhood of the City of Rochester, including community gardens and a weekly food pantry. 

We will work on a variety of garden tasks - weeding, harvesting produce, planting, etc. Come dressed in closed toe shoes, and please bring whatever is needed to keep you comfortable while working outside - water, hats, sunscreen, etc. 

In case of bad weather, we will be indoors working on tasks for our weekly food pantry. 

Spend time organizing and cleaning the costume storage area in Tower Fine Arts.  Learn about music and theatre opportunities while helping clean up and sort out our costumes!

We will sort and organize previously donated and recently purchased items into stations, then pack care packs containing hygiene, safety, and other items. These care packs will then be distributed to local organizations providing street outreach. We will provide you with a Human Trafficking 101 basics as well as an overview of our organization, the work we have done, and what's upcoming for us!

Volunteers of America's nationally accredited child care center proudly serves more than 150 children daily from 6 weeks through Pre-K with early childhood programming, in addition to after school enrichment programs for up to 12 years old. We offer a warm and welcoming community of staff, children and families, and provide additional on-site support services.

Help our teachers prepare for the new academic school year by organizing and cleaning classrooms.

Join us at Seabury Woods Assisted Living Community for a fun day of board-game play. Facilitate and participate in games with residents!

Join us at St. Joseph's Park to help clean and beautify one of Downtown Rochester's historic neighborhoods. Experience the open-air tranquility of the St. Joseph's Park ruins, a national registered landmark. We will be picking up litter, planting flowers and helping revitalize the area in and around the park and nearby streets. Thank you in advance for participating in this fun and important project.

Every year during Saturday of Service we welcome the help of SUNY Brockport new students as we clean and prepare our building for the coming year.

This afternoon of student help is invaluable to the congregation going forward into the year.

Come spend some time in the outdoors helping us steward our dedication and sensory gardens carefully cultivated by the gardening club. 

We need volunteers to assist with cleaning and organizing the Lilac Library, as well as making promotional materials for upcoming outreach events. Volunteers will assist with re-shelving books, shelf reading, general cleaning tasks, folding clothes for the clothing close, making book marks, and folding brochures. Volunteers must have a commitment to serving the LGBTQIA+ community as well as a commitment to ending racism. Volunteers will be given a tour of the library and community space as well as time to check out materials if interested.
