Looking to give back and nourish families facing a difficult time? Our Make-A-Meal program is a fantastic way to do just that!

We know a home-cooked meal can bring a sense of normalcy and comfort, especially for families staying at the Ronald McDonald House while their child receives medical care. Here's how your group can participate:

Need something special? Let us know in advance if your recipe requires any specific cookware.

Packaging: Disposable aluminum trays make serving and storing the meal a breeze.

Group power: Gather up to 10 volunteers (all 18 or older) to join the fun! Children are welcome, but must be supervised by an adult within the house.

Volunteer Opportunities available for Summer of  July 6th to August 28th

This is a need for anyone interested in going around to Brockport and/or Rochester area businesses and handing out flyers for Rochester Rainbow Union.  This includes being a representative for RRU and talking with anyone who has questions about the organization and the Lilac Library. The hours are variable.

We need volunteers to staff the Lilac Library for a few hours a week. Volunteers will greet visitors and work on library-related projects including: checking in/out library books, re-shelving books, folding clothes for the clothing closet, organizing, and general office work. Volunteers must have a commitment to serving the LGBTQIA+ community as well as a commitment to ending racism.

Students, faculty and staff are invited to serve as Team Leaders for our Saturday of Service event during Welcome Week 2026.

Incoming students will take part in a variety of service projects (including gardening, cleaning, painting, and more) as a way to get them acclimated to the region and introduce them to the ways they can get involved. Accompany our new students at their sites & help them get better acquainted with their new peers and community!

Join us on-campus as we sort through all of the donations that have come in from Trash to Treasure: SUNY Brockport's premier move-out event in which on-campus students donate new or gently used items that they won't be bringing back home with them (e.g. clothes, food, mini fridges, bedding, toiletries, and more!)

Volunteers will be going through bags of donations and organizing them. Come by yourself, or with a group of friends!

Sign up for as many shifts in as many hour increments as you'd like.

Assist in maintaining orderly environment by providing traffic control on roadway, access roads and parking areas; greet attendees and direct to parking area; adjust barricades and signage, as needed; provide driving directions; deter illegal/ad hoc parking patterns; provide a welcoming environment. Training will be provided on proper use handheld radio, and traffic flag.  Working environment will require standing and walking. University will issue reflective vest to wear over personal clothing. Lunch will be provided.

Looking for volunteers interested in helping with the day-to-day operations of the food shelf. Tasks include:

- Organizing and sorting food,

- Collecting food donations,

- Interacting with community members that are shopping for food.

We are looking for help on the first four Thursdays of each month.

- 9:00 - 11:00am

- 11:00 - 12:30pm

- 2:00 - 4:00pm

- 4:00 - 6:00pm

Cheerfully guide athletes as a road marshal for up to 4 hours for our half-marathon, family 5k, and kids half mile races!

We are looking for candidates that can follow directions, stay positive, and communicate clearly. Your enthusiasm will ensure athletes stay on track and safe. Join us for a fun and rewarding experience!

Volunteer Roles Include:

The St. Leo Respite Program provides support and respite services to people living with dementia and their families. Participants will engage in friendly conversation, play games, and enjoy activities in a safe and fun environment while their caregivers have respite. This program will be supported by Volunteer Companions, who will provide companionship, assist with facilitated activities, and help create a sense of belonging in a supportive, dementia-friendly environment. The program will run weekly on Thursdays, with a session from 9:00 AM - 12:00 PM and a second session from 1:00 PM - 4:00 PM. Volunteers can sign up for one to two sessions per week. There will also be a monthly Wednesday dinner. 

Family Room Volunteers oversee a lounge area at Unity Hospital, committed to the RMHCR mission of promoting children's health and well-being. This Family Room offers refreshments, snacks, and a tranquil space for families of children receiving treatment, as well as a respite for families awaiting the birth of a baby.

Pediatric Hospitality Cart Volunteers operate and maintain a mobile cart for pediatric patients and their families on various pediatric units at Rochester General Hospital. The mobile cart offers snacks, toys and bring joy to children and their family members who are admitted in the hospital.

Dedicated members needed in the fundraising team for Brockport Food Shelf’s new building.  Tasks would include: Planning Fundraising Events, Social Media Marketing & Logo Designing. Note that this is a long-term service project, expected to carry on for at least a year.

Wishmakers on Campus is a customizable fundraising program that provides college campuses, clubs, teams, and more the opportunity to engage in philanthropy and service activities in partnership with Make-A-Wish. The program encourages community service, leadership, volunteerism, and teamwork. It helps build school spirit and creates partnerships outside of academics while providing students hands-on experience fundraising to help create life-changing wishes for kids fighting critical illnesses.

Through Wishmakers on Campus, college students rally together to plan and coordinate fundraising campaigns to help Make-A-Wish grant more wishes to local kids with critical illnesses.

Pediatric Hospitality Cart Volunteers operate and maintain a stationary cart for families of pediatric patients at Strong Memorial Hospital at the Pediatric Ambulatory Care Clinic. The stationary cart offers snack bags to children and their family members who are visiting the clinic for their appointment.

An Alzheimer's and Dementia Educator plays a key role in raising awareness and providing education about Alzheimer's disease, dementia, and brain health. This will involve delivering presentations, workshops, and educational sessions to various groups, including caregivers, families, and people living with dementia. The goal is to increase understanding of dementia and promote early detection, prevention strategies, and caregiving support.
