The Center for Disability Rights(CDR) will be hosting their Annual Accessible Trick-or-Treat Halloween event for children with and without disabilities, ages 10 and under. For many children with physical or sensory disabilities, going door-to-door to trick-or-treat may be a challenge, if it is an option at all. We at CDR transform our office space into a fun, safe, and fully-accessible “neighborhood.” In this environment, children can come together and enjoy the best part of Halloween in an inclusive environment. Additionally, we will have Trick-or-Treaters with sensory disabilities here from 4:00 to 5:00PM that afternoon in a more “low key” environment.
Community volunteers are who make the event a reality. Decorating our building is a considerable task, and this year we are seeking volunteers to help us prepare in the weeks leading up to it. We also need volunteers that afternoon and evening, for a variety of roles such as giving out candy to kids, working the game room, and much more!
Decorating the building takes place:
- Friday, October 18th 2:00pm-5:00pm
- Saturday, October 19th 10:00am-1:00pm
- Friday, October 25th 2:00pm-5:00pm
- Saturday, October 26th 10:00am-1:00pm
Day of Accessible Trick-or-Treat:
- Wednesday, October 30th 3:00pm-6:00pm
- Wednesday, October 30th 4:30pm-7:30pm
Transportation is provided for this event.
