Volunteers of America Upstate New York

Who We Are

At Volunteers of America Upstate New York, we are dedicated to restoring hope, dignity, and a sense of belonging for people facing challenges. Our mission is to foster self-reliance and stability by delivering essential services in housing, education, and health.

What We Do

VOA provides emergency shelters for families and individuals in crisis, housing for veterans and seniors, and permanent supportive housing for people struggling with homelessness. Our programs help people regain housing stability, increase their self-sufficiency, and improve their health and well-being.

The VOA Children’s Center provides educational programs focused on early childhood development and school readiness through play-based learning. We offer child care for infants and toddlers, Universal Pre-Kindergarten, and enhanced summer and after-school programs for school-age children.

VOA helps adults make a positive transition from incarceration back into the community through our Residential Reentry Center, which provides housing, specialized case management, employment assistance, and other supportive services.

The Farm addresses food insecurity through sustainable hydroponic urban farming. VOA grows fresh produce year-round, which is distributed to households and food pantries throughout Monroe County to ensure people have access to healthy foods.
